I went to the ribbon cutting of Picture Me Studio today. Picture Me Studio is a new photography studio in Siloam Springs owned by some friends of ours. If you live in Siloam and have a chance you should check it out. The studio is next to Radio Shack, and is a part of Color Mate.
So I was driving to work this morning, listening to the song by Third Day, “Show Me Your Glory.” And as I was praying that phrase….Lord, show me your glory today…Thursday…..I’ll be going to a funeral in a few hours…..show me Your Glory this morning as I prepare for my day. And He did!
Just as I was coming up the hill from camp, God showed me that He IS there….and He DOES listen. And it was beautiful…..a beautiful deer emerging from the woods on one side of the road and disappearing back into them on the other. Beautiful. Cause I think that maybe, just maybe that deer could have been sent just for me.
Summer Camp is going well. It is week four right now, so we are almost half way done with the summer. Please keep all of us (Beth and I,the resident staff at NLR, summer staff, campers, etc.) in your prayers. There has been some sickness going around which we need protection from. Pray for the summer staff that they would have energy and endurance to finish out the summer strong!
Well, you found it! We thought a little introduction to this blog might be good.
We have found that we are not very good at keeping people updated about what is going on in our lives and at camp. It’s not that we don’t want to…but we don’t do well getting newsletters, email, etc out. We are going to continue to try, but hopefully this will be a great way for us to let you know how & what we’re doing here at camp more often. We hope to update frequently, so keep checking back for new posts!
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication. RSS is a simple way to keep track of when new content is published to web sites that use RSS. It works like this: A subscriber (that can be anybody with an internet connection) uses an RSS reader to subscribe to RSS feeds. The reader then monitors the feeds for changes. When a change occurs the reader lets the user (that’s you!) know that there is new content available. For example, if you wanted to monitor this blog for new posts you would first have find a feed reader (I have listed a few below). Then you would click on the RSS link at the bottom of this page. You will end up on a funny looking page that is not really very readable, but the important part is the address in the address bar on your browser. This is the address of the feed for this blog. You would then copy this address into your feed reader to subscribe. Then, every time we make a new post you will be notified through the reader.
As you are using the various web sites that you visit everyday watch for little orange icons like these: , and . These icons indicate that that site offers an RSS feed which you might want to subscribe to. There are many RSS readers available. Here are a few to check out:Feedreader, Sharpreader, Newsgator, and myYahoo.
I’m glad you asked! Most of you know how Ben is in charge of the communications for New Life Ranch….website, promotional videos, brochures….but lately several people have asked me what my role is at camp.
Well, I am the editor of the New Life News (the newsletter we put together for camp that gets mailed out 3 times a year), I help out on registration day (collecting health forms) and I am part of a Resident Staff Small Group for our summer staff. (Each summer staff is in a small group, and each small group is paired up with some of our Resident Staff) My small group comes up to our house for an hour each Thursday. I love it! It’s a great way for me to get involved with the summer staff that are here this summer. I remember being on summer staff and how much I looked forward to that one hour a week where I got to go into a real house, with air conditioning, and yummy snacks to just take a break from camp for awhile. It’s fun being able to be on the other end now!
